You should not use XDMCP-anything for this stuff.

The X server should be configured in what they call ``passive mode,''
in which the server barely fires up and starts listening for requests.
The X server should NOT attempt any logins anywhere.

Look in the configuration menus for eXceed. I seem to remember it's
under Transport, but don't have a l0sed0ze box to check.

(In passive mode, you don't name any hosts.)

If ssh is supposed to forward requests made to local port 6000 (where
your X server is listening) how do you think the requests will ever end
up with your X server? In fact, once you start one (either the X server,
or ssh with this forwarding) you won't be able to start the other one!

This is the right way. Remove all manual forwardings.

That's wrong, it doesn't work at all.

XDMCP is UDP. SSH can forward TCP connections only. XDMCP-initiated
logins over ssh don't exist, if you don't count XDMCP over a Virtual
Private Network constructed with PPP over ssh, which is way past any-
thing we need to discuss here.

Just don't make it so damned complicated. It really is quite easy.
