The seller says it was tested on a Power Mac 4400. I probably am too
trusting, but I have only been on eBay for about a month plus days to
ressurect my vintage Macs and StarMax (which will be vintage when????). The
seller, after being notified, initially said the StarMax did not take 64 MB
DIMMs, and sent me documentation to back that up. Obviously, I know it does,
but he offered to exchange the DIMM for two 32 MB EDO DIMMs, which won't do
me as much good since I have nowhere to put the extra 32 MB DIMM (no
comments from the peanut gallery on that please). I'm sure he meant the 32
MB DIMM has to go in the single bank slot, which I believe is the lower most
slot when the tower is standing up. (True?)

And yes, you don't really need to undo the board plugs, but it just sort of
happened that way =) I will try it the old way after I finish a major
project that has me occupied. And I joined this LEM list to, I hope, LOOK
before I leap into the motherboard again. I will post what the purveyor sent
me at a later date under this thead to keep it as complete as possible for
future reference. Anyone have any idea where the P6 plug goes? It's still
just hangin' there...... I plan to call Miss Cleo tonight to divine an
answer, but I thought I'd ask here first...........

ALSO: thanks to David Klause for the note on StarMax memory. If I can recoup
my money from this seller (If I verify that the RAM is the problem), I will
contact them. Fortunately there is a CompUSA within a half-hour of me. Worse
comes to worse, I'll take it in for repairs, but I don't have too much to
spend on this problem.....

Go back to start. Remove the new DIMM and try it the old way. FYI: You don'=
t
need to remove the board/plugs to install a DIMM.

PS Has this DIMM actually been tested in a StarMax?
