In the continuing saga, the Starmax 3240 MT in question here will now
start-up, but after the monitor's LED goes from yellow energy star to green,
it reverts back to yellow on startup. So signal is being sent, but it
doesn't sustain and the internal IDE Barracuda drive does not seem to be
spinning. Could the logic board be damaged? How would I know?

I tried starting from the 7.6 Disk Tools floppy for PPC, from the original
Starmax CD 7.5.3, and nothing is working. I am sure the original RAM is back
in original position, turned the right way and that the power plugs are all
in their keyed slots (though P6 is still just dangling there since no one
can open their Starmax and decide whether it's supposed to be plugged in or
not).

I would really appreciate list members' help in diagnosing this problem
before I run the clone down to CompUSA for a $75 check-up (that's what
they'll charge to look and fix for an hour). The DIMM bought off eBay is
repackaged and ready for return to the seller, who has conspicuously ignored
all e-mail attempts to ascertain his return address. The two original and
working DIMMs are exactly as they were. Does anyone know a way to diagnose
this problem? Miss Cleo has been vague, and I don't know where else to turn.

The only other Macs I have are an old LCIII that runs like a top and a
Performa 638CD that serves as a TV, writing station. I don't think I can
network these to the Starmax to diagnose it with TechTool, but maybe I can
find some halp here. It's amazing how simple it was to start up a Mac Plus
with RAMdisk (paid for thank you), and run MacWrite and HyperCard back in
the day. Thanks to Mr. Schwartz and others for their kind off-list
suggestions!!

All the best.......... Matt
