Very new here. I joined because after buying the appropriate 64 MB RAM DIMM
off eBay and attempting an install, I cannot get my Starmax 3240 MT to power
up right. Several of the internal power plugs needed to be unplugged to
slide the board out. The SCSI ribbon near the Cuda switch and RAM had to be
undone (my what a long cord....why????). I thought I had everything plugged
in, but there is one jack marked P6 that is connected to the P7 that goes
into the floppy. P6 is not plugged in anywhere. Maybe it's not supposed to
be. I'm posting to the group to ask for help in making sure I have
everything connected. I've been ginger with this box, and I believe I have
the four P1,P2,P10,P11 jacks in the right place -- they're coded. Otherwise,
I'm unsure. Here's the RAM configuration:
A tech had installed a 32 MB upgrade some time ago to add to the original 32
MB. Both of these chips were in the dual bank slots, leaving the single bank
slot empty. I dont' know why, it just was. I took what appeared to be the
smaller 32 MB chip and plugged it into the single bank slot, and put the old
32 MB DIMM into the middle slot and the new 64 MB DIMM from eBay into the
upper dual bank slot. The clone sounds a Mac chord, the CD tray will go in
and out, but there is no apparent disk activity heard and there is no video
at all. It doesn't send a signal to the monitor.
Replies to the list and directly would be appreciated. Hope to contribute on
my own later. I may be selling off Frankenstein here in
parts...............coming to an auction near you if I can't get this
working!!!
All the best,
Matt
