Attention readers: you won't find any answers in this email so delete it now.
Bob, how you quoted me and others make me sound like a raving lunatic. You
made it sound like most of what you were quoting was from me. All I said was
I've got some really old computers plugged in for ever and I've never had to
replace a battery. I never said that this was the right thing to do ... I
never said keeping my computers plugged in to a wall socket for some 20 years
did a magic trick in keeping the batteries charged. I just said that I've
done that and I've never replaced a battery from any Apple computer that I've
owned to date. I did say that keeping the computer plugged in came from a
pre-web information sight.
I know that these batteries are all different and I'm not prepared to go into
any kind of discussion about what type is best for the long run. To tell you
the truth, I don't care if they are made out of spider spit or something that
will cause the extermination of the human race as we know it .... well, I'm
not concerned about that right now anyway. How batteries are made isn't my
point .... even which batteries for ANY reason that can survive for ANY
period of time isn't (and wasn't) my point.
My point was only that from what I know and from what I've read, if you
unplug your computer then you will not recharge your battery. My point is
that I've followed this advice from time begin (1984) and haven't lost a
battery since. Now, Is this true for every case? My bet is no. My guess
though, is that if your computer has been unplugged for a time and you are
experiencing odd things, then you probably just got bit because you unplugged
your computer and your battery is now bad.
If you don't believe me, then keep a log of these computer related troubles
and see how many result from bad batteries. If you find one in ten, then that
was too many. Why? Because a bad battery causes wonky troubles that even the
best of us won't find in two months of solid research. Bad batteries make us
chase ghosts. I don't care what kind of trouble you have ... a bad battery
can simulate any trouble that you will ever have with a Mac.
And that is a fact.
And that is what I'm trying to say. It is a fact that no one can ever escape.
It is as sure as the sun rising in the east.
I've been there since 1984 and I know that this is as true as anything that I
can I say in my little life time.
This is a fact from god.
On the other hand, god does make some mistakes. He doesn't publish his
errors. I'm all ears to learn of mistakes --- jeese, didn't he fail in OS
1.2, 4.1, 6.5, and then again in 7.5?
All the same Bob, It hurts me to no end that you don't believe me about the
this battery stuff.
Big hugs, Linda
