I assume its the MAC address that the utility finds? Just a thought, does
the card show up in Apple System Profiler?

Not applicable means, for one thing, that the machine doesn't have an
Ethernet card, I don't know what else it would mean, so presumably it can't
see the card.

Hrm, if the drivers aren't compatible with 8.0 then it is possible that that
is preventing the OS from communicating with the card, even if the card were
listed in ASP. Are there any minimum OS requirements with the card?

The MAC address is just read from the card, I assume, so I don't think you'd
need to be connected to a network to see it.
