My install disk says:
if you can't start up from the Mac OS CD or you're installing from a network
be sure to do the following additional tasks:
"If you are upgrading from Mac OS 8.1 or earlier, you can not perform the
installation unless you start up from Mac OS 8.5 or later"
This puzzles me as to how one would start up from 8.6 say, if their computer
is running 8.1 ? Maybe that just applies if installing from the network.
Note this is just *if* you can't start from the CD.
It also has several issues listed w/ earlier OS's being upgraded the most
likely of which seems to be:
