It was initially installed in slot 1. I've never tried slot 2, but it runs marginally less fragile in slot 5. I understand slots 3-5 are software controlled & less efficient than 1-2. So, slowing the card down does help, but that's definitely not the direction I'd prefer to go.
Am pursuing the Finder memory increase thing, for now. Finder Fixer doesn't seem to work for me. Increasing the Finder Size resource by a factor of 4 helps (I get farther down the thermometer before freezing), but doesn't fix the prob. I do freeze consistently when copying larger items, but only with several apps backgrounding. The identical config on the old IDE bus has no problem.
