Went to XLR8's site to see if they had a driver update for my JoeCard. The original was free, but now they want $15 for the update. So, I put in a email inquiry to their support dept. to see if they thought the updates might address my particular IDE controller problem; worth a try.
For the meantime I'll try the Control Panel 'Reaper' to increase the Finders/everyone elses memory/heap.
