I have been really happy with both Ramdoubler and SpeedDoubler for
several years. There are upgrades for RamDoubler to work with Mac OS
9 on the manufacturer's website. Have you opened the Ramdoubler
control panel and set your ram to the maximum (256mb). ? The
application also has a utility to hold the system heap, whatever that
means and to hide background applications. It works like the memory
control panel.

SpeedDoubler did nothing for "speed" on my system, but wow do I miss
it since I'm now using 9.1!! I used it to back up (copy) important
financial files on my hard drive (it did this automatically when you
set the application's preferences).

I also use Conflict Catcher which I know many of you do not like, but
this program helps me keep track of what I have on the computer and I
can open control panels and extensions from within the CC program

Good luck.
