For the record, I did run an updater on it to get the latest version
(version 9.something? Not sure now, I no longer have it), and I did also
assign myself a rather large quantity of RAM. However, I seem to recall that
it simply never really performed that much better than standard Mac OS VM.
Buying more RAM was the answer, and it was really nice when a list member
recently informed us that StarMax RAM prices in the UK, from Crucial, had
decreased to a sensible price at last. Now I have 144 Mb (from 64), and
waiting for apps to get paged in and out is just about a thing of the past
now.

(Hrm - I do recall a day when I did open a huge quantity of apps at once,
for fun, which was probably easier under RAMdoubler, but then, I think the
Mac might have crashed.)

I don't recall seeing that SpeedDoubler feature you mentioned, I might have
had an older version, but 8 sounds about right. I seem to recall that it was
buggy and unstable, I'm not sure, and that I had to avoid its features, but
that was too long ago now.

- Daniel.
