> IDE is MUCH more processor intensive, uses cpu more, than scsi...

Hrm, I'm not so sure about that at all. I know the SCSI article I found
linked from someone's post claims this, but SCSI on my Mac isn't great. When
I'm scanning, the machine is so dead that all my music is cut out, and
generally music keeps playing even through bombs as it runs on a VBL task
allowing it to play even while the CPU is tied up. Thus, SCSI must be taking
over the CPU almost entirely.

I also have my music keep stopping during copying files onto (and off, I
think) Zip discs in my SCSI Zip drive - the CPU also gets taken up by that.

Of course, file copying is generally CPU intensive anyhow, which still
puzzles me.

> SPEED?

In what way? I think I've been seeing people here say they can typically
only get 6x speed out of SCSI Yamaha burners - what is the safe limit for
IDE then?

Bear in mind that my most recent CD burning was all done on a 1 GHz Pentium
PC that couldn't underrun if it tried, although I think it was only burning
at its maximum of 4x =)
