Hi, I was planning to use a spare barebones PC I have laying around, to build a NAS. The PC is an AOpen EZ65, which is based around a Pentium 4 with the Intel 865G and ICH5 chipset. The motherboard has 2 SATA connectors, but the BIOS maps these as IDE channels.
I have booted both 2009.6 as well as EON 59.9, but neither recognises my 2 SATA drives (Samsung Spinpoint EcoGreenWhatever F2 1,5TB). I also have an old Seagate 80GB IDE drive attached, which works fine, as does the DVD drive on IDE. There's a couple of modes in the BIOS for the SATA: letting the BIOS manage them, using IDE+SATA together (2 modes), disabling or SATA only. I've tried all modes in which the BIOS shows both the IDE devices as well as the SATA drives. I've checked and my BIOS is the most recent version. Anything I can do to try and get OpenSolaris to detect these drives ? If there's any info or logs that I should post, please tell me. It'd be nice if I can avoid having to buy a now motherboard.
