Hi,

In the meantime, I found a thread that claims ICH5 SATA is just unsupported in
Solaris 10 / OpenSolaris 2009.6. That clears out any remaining doubt.

As for a solution to get my drives working on a small server: I'm looking at a
mini-ITX board or a SATA controller for my current system, but I just cannot
find anything useful in the HCL. Finding a SATA controller is particularly
hard: none of the PCI cards I find is there, looking up the chipset doesn't
help me either. There's a few motherboards that are in the supported list, but
when I look up their SATA controller (e.g. ICH7), it's not in the HCL. On the
other hand, my ICH5 is in the HCL but, as we now know, it doesn't work.

So, how can I go ahead and buy a controller or a new MB and be sure it works ?

Peter.
