I find the HCL a bit confusing because it lists motherboards, not chipsets. I'd be looking to buy a mini-ITX board and it's rather a hassle if the board itself isn't listed. Also, if a motherboard is on the HCL, it's unclear if that means all peripherals are supported. But I guess most recent boards will work. After all, I only need it to boot, recognise my LAN and SATA.
