Subject: Re: [SLU] HDD partitions
I was able to restore a win2k boot which I wiped out with fdisk/mbr.I
booted with
the W2K CD and choose rescue console(or somehting like that). On the
other hand
lilo won't boot W2K on that computer for unknown reasons. It did at the
beginning
than after I wrote it a second time won't boot it anymore. lilo -u will
restore
the W2K boot loader.Unfortunatley I can wipe out and reinstall so I'm
stucked with
booting Linux from floppy when I need it.:-(
Alan
I was using the Win2000 bootloader to duel boot Win2000 and Win98, both
installed in Fat32 partitions. I made the mistake of trying Corel Linux
which auto installs LILO to the MBR. When I used fdisk/MBR to remove it, I
could no longer boot Win2000 or 98. I tried using the 2000 Rescue Disk I had
created and the 2000 CD but neither would recognize the 2000 partition and
warned that I would be proceeding at my own risk.
Since then I have installed Grub to the MBR with no problem but never
again will I knowingly do such with LILO.
Should you wish to try GRUB with Storm you can find info and download it
from www.gnu.org/software/grub
It is also possible, by editing your Win2K boot.ini to boot Linux with
it.
