I've just noticed that picture number 19 on the Austrian Web site
(http://tirol-php.highway.telekom.at/k.schwarzinger/a_0680.htm)
is a sundial from 1985 that is identical to the type we have recently
been referring to as a Singleton sundial.
Which came first?
