You could try forcing the Sun Ray to ignore DDC and always drive
a video timing that you know the monitor can handle.  Use
'utresadm' to do that:

    % utresadm -a -c <mac-of-sunray> -t default <timing>

where <timing> is the name of one of the timings shown by 'utresdef'.
Then power-cycle the Sun Ray.
