Keep in mind choosing the right tool.
You know, a rubber mallet may fix a problem that a regular hammer can't.
And vise versa. Different shock for different maladies.

I guess the power supply would get fried first before anything can jolt the
motherboard.

But not sure how to explain you getting the startup "boing".
