Hi there: I have in my personal and very selective archives from this list some information on replacing/expanding the original HD in my C500. I have my eyes on the following three items:
1) EBay # 2773615075, IBM Deskstar 20.5 g IDE HD 2) A second-hand 4 G IDE drive, unknown maker. My source says, "there is no documentation other than a receipt (if you want one) an anti-static bag and padding. It's also an internal unit (meaning no external case). Please remember that on low end mac, nearly everything is used unless specifically noted as new. So please let me know. I'll guarantee that it works." 3) "new 40 gig IBM drives. They are $47" These last two from the LEM swap list. There's nothing wrong with the original drive I have, it's just gotten cramped (which I never thought would happen). Any recommendations? The easier the new one is to install the happier I'll be, not having done anything inside the case beyond installing memory, an ethernet card, and a G3. Simple is good. This is new territory for me, obviously. Any thoughts/recommendations welcome (and I hope I'm not being too tedious). -- Bill Spencer Light travels faster than sound.
