There's nothing wrong with the original drive I have, it's just gotten cramped (which I never thought would happen). Any recommendations? The easier the new one is to install the happier I'll be, not having done anything inside the case beyond installing memory, an ethernet card, and a G3. Simple is good. This is new territory for me, obviously. Any thoughts/recommendations welcome (and I hope I'm not being too tedious).
Bill, the C-series has an IDE bus that is limited to one (1) device. Some folks
have used the IDE connector to have a CD-R/RW drive or probably even a
Superdrive but since it is an HD you want to change I can vouch for the
simplicity of the task. The job basically consists of loosening the screws holding
the drive in place and unplugging the 4-wire power plug and the IDE cable
itself. Basic remove/replace. 20-30 minutes start to finish.
The challenging part is getting your data off of the old drive and on to the new drive because you can not have them both connected at the same time. You pretty much must have some intermediary storage device on the SCSI bus.
