Happy ending! A nice listee here offered me a new identical supply in
exchange for a contribution to LEM, and to pay shipping. A couple of
Paypal clicks, and a nice contribution has been sent to LEM, and the new
supply arrived days later, and went into the ol'J700, and it powered up
just fine.
We got a fine group of folks here, I'm glad to be a steady lurker here!

I don't know enough about our computers to be able to contribute, except
basic maintenance and operation, or I'd pipe in occasionally. Still I'd
like to thank everyone who frequents the list and helps folks out!
