I collect Macs and clones, and it is my goal to get all of them networked or networkable ... all the way down to the Plus. I have 2 C500s, one with ethernet and one without. The one without is faster(200mHz as opposed to 180), and I'd like to add ethernet to it, but I haven't been successful. I have 2 ethernet cards for Macs that I have tried but neither seem to work. I'm running 7.6.1 on it. Do I need something special for it to run?
One is a pull from a 9600, and the drivers for it are evidently included in 9.1 cuz the card works fine in the 9600 with no other software help. I don't have enough RAM to go to (.1 on this machine. The other is a Farallon and requires drivers which I installed. Is there something special about which slot it goes in or something? I'm stumped.
I have an Asante card in the lower slot that worked. My C500 was 180 MHz until I put in a Sonnet L2 slot G3 upgrade. Of course I have MacOS 9.1 running on it. Have you tried upgrading the OS? I also have maxed out the RAM at 160 MB
