What I meant to say was that we could still have added back grippies even if it violated the HiG but our Mac expert couldn't find a style of grippies that worked well (i.e. you could easily locate and click on it) while not looking totally out of place against the standard styling guidelines. Note I don't use a Mac so everything I say here about the issue is at best third hand.
