It works with the touchpad on my netbook, for example - the gesture used to scroll. For the rest, the default font size (possibly adjusted by the user) when composing should be o.k. without need to zoom in/out (see my second reply to this thread). I guess that's why there's no Ctrl +/- key bindings in the composition window.
