hopelessly limiting except WRT Flash support.

Maybe it was misleading, as I didn't mean to imply SM devs have such
goals, just those working on FF and such foundational components (e.g.
Gecko & Necko) as are necessary to further FF developer agenda.

In that case, I'm correcting you. :) While I'm not sure what you're referring to by "dumb down", that is certainly not the agenda. If you're referring to design decisions, then it's not even the same people that proposed removing Growl support.

And I don't see what any of this has to do Chrome.
