Open Mail, click Edit, Mail & Newsgroups Account Settings. Go to your
Gmail account and click on Server Settings. That'll tell you if it's
POP or IMAP.

Why would he need to check his Mail & Newsgroups Account Settings??
He said he accesses Gmail via SM. So, he has set up, like I have, an
email acct. in SM to access Gmail. He doesn't know if he set up a POP
or IMAP acct and I told him how to figure that out.
