You may find using a file server to host Filemaker will prove
unsatisfactory - there have been many opinions expressed about that on
this list - you may find using another lightly loaded workstation to be
more satisfactory as the Host for Filemaker and eBase, or have lots of
memory (RAM) at your "server".
As to Windows File Sharing, I'm pretty sure it's a bad idea to Host a FM
database from a Resource shared by Windows File Sharing, perhaps you
could add a partition to your server hard drive for eBase (reliable
freeware available to do that) and keep it Not Shared, that would work OK.
If you've enabled the TCP/IP protocol in Filemaker, you should see
ebase.1xx from the Open|Hosts button at other machines on your LAN
running Filemaker, regardless of File Sharing settings.
