If you want to keep the same speakers for 35 yrs, your maintenance company
better get in a COMPLETE replacement system (including a full set of
speakers) as spares.

We used to pride ourselves on providing better & longer service spares than
anyone else in the business but even we drew the line at 20 yrs. Older
than that, we would try to replace and/or repair with a near equivalent.

Service Dept. used to see us at R&D for advice and I learnt a lot about
arcane glues & paints for sealing Super 8RSDD cloth surrounds.

And you'd better make sure your maintenance company will still be in
business in 35 yrs.

Who were you thinking of?

Having said that, modern speakers don't usually go wrong if used within
their limits but you need to cater for the odd boot and of course floods &
cyclones for your outdoor application.

I would go with 'outdoor' speakers for use on small boats. They do go
wrong but are cheap to replace with something 'similar'. Plastic cones
best and no fancy stuff like tweeters.
