Most filesystems except FAT supports it.

I got a file sent to me from a Windows95-fan called (in translation) 
"postcard_01.jpg". It is as descriptive as
"201.jpg". The image did not look like a postcard at all.

I changed all my *.html to *.htm when I moved my pages, and keep all filenames to 8.3 
so that there will be no
problems for anyone.

Not dumb at all. It makes many US-Windowsprograms unusable in Swedish Windows, which 
has "program" in
stead of "progra~1".
