Not at all. I barly program myself, and the CLI/GUI enviroment
I setted up for myself doesnt limit me in anyway. Infact, its more
comfortable, and I feel that my access to the computer have improved.

For DOS I use CLI and NC. I also have a kit of batch files that
I created during the years that which perform as extended commands
for DOS. (a shell for the CLI based archivers, file swap utility,
ETC.) For Windows 3.11 I use Take Command/16
as the primary program manager (instead of progman), which gives
a 4DOS window with a tool bar on top. You can also do windows-specific
commands from there. (terminate task, change window size, open dialog
box, ETC. This way you can do Windows batch files with 4DOS extensions)
For Windows 95 I use Take Command/32 and command prompt windows.
I also run NC trough there. (and so do most of my friends. I remember
that on TV, there was once a person who was all for Windows 95 and
against DOS completly. The funny thing was, they shown his desktop,
and just before he ran the demonstration program I could see a
short-cut to Norton Commander 5. hm..)

I dont know about "developers", but i'm not a developer. Then again
i'm not the average user, so I guess that i'm something in between.

BTW, Midnight Commander is a clone of Norton Commander, not the other
way around. Norton Commander got more features and is more fluid
and comfortable then Midnight, if you'll ask me.

There's also a not quite bad clone made for Windows 95, called
FAR. It also allow you to access FTP sites and do file-managment on
them as if they were local directories. (I think this also apply
to midnight?)
