Thanks for the reply BUT....
Im still having a hell of a time with the 2M pci ATI mach 64 video card
the machine is a compaq deskpro with an onboard video I was *hoping* to enhance it
by adding the new card but its made it worse. My screen size is about 1 inch black
on the sides and 1.5 inches black on top and bottom, its looks like a bad joke
Ive tried everything from changing modes, using xvidtune and nothing works to get a
larger screen.
Also posted out to the linux setup group... nothing.
Ive been meaning to pull it and go back to the onboard but Im just too lazy. So I
dont use x.
(hence my wonderment with mcedit)
The monitor is a ALR Flexview 2X super vga and cant find any documentation on the
net about it.
Ive went as far as calling ALR and got a tech on the phone but he basically said is
so many words he never heard of it.....
The curious thing is when using the onboard it gave me a full screen. Ive ran
xf86config enough times to drive the average person batty experimenting with
different modes etc no help.
I know I can hand edit the file but there is so much in there Its just easier to go
through and run xf86.
I dld the new X3.3.3.3 rpm and the new mach64 server-- no difference. Yes, the
packages installed perfectly.
any suggestions would be appreciated. Id really like to see it work.
The amount of time I spent on this I could have bought 2 nice monitors by now!
thanks
rob
