Put pnp back in and setup the card in /etc/isapnp.conf
to your chosen irq's and io's. Then also put that info in
/etc/conf.modules.
The card should be recognized and initialized at boot time.
If not, maybe your kernel isn't properly configured.
Those isa pnp ethernet cards had some tricky settings in
menuconfig.
If it is recognized,
then try to use yast to install it as eth1.

If that don't work, maybe the card is bad, or maybe you have found a
bug in Suse Linux and Yast.

I'm out of ideas, except maybe you have some other card in your
system that is interfering with the ethernet card.
