I haven't looked at gnome yet.  I'm going to wait until they clean it up
a bit.  I think they did harm to their cause by releasing what many are
calling a "beta" or even "alpha" version because of it's incompleteness
and lack of stability, it what some are saying is true.   ???

I downloaded and installed gtk from tarballs.  In fact, because of some
problems with the rpm program itself I have switched to using tarballs,
except for when YaST uses it.

So, from your experience, is it reasonably stable or still shakey?
