The upgrade instructions are in the documentation section of the
2.2.* source code package.
The upgrade goes pretty smoothly, just like compiling any other kernel.
You could save time by checking the mailing list archive, and
reading all the recent kernel questions.
Basically:
1. You need egcs to compile the 2.2.* kernal, so remove
package "gcc front" if you installed it.
2. dev/lp0 and /dev/lp1 get their irq's switched around from the
2.036 kernel. This can cause conflicts with previously setup
soundcards. Just check your irqs.
3. You may get errors about "char major 14" etc. Just go into
/etc/conf.modules and turn them off.
