Hi; I'm a new member. I just read that WVO (Waste Vegetable Oil) has got a higher level of acidity than ordinary oil. (particuarly rapeseed oil which is why it's used.)
Might the acidity of the wvo have an effect on the reaction. I think lye is an alkali but i'm not a chemist so I don't know, unfortunately.
