Pennington, .on Heaven is an ineffectual reward
In a very enjoyable talk, Chris notes the many conflicting
descriptions of Heaven in the Bible, the Koran, and other
writings.Given all the contradictions he wonders what it might
possibly be like. He finally concludes that it would be quite a
worry, especially if you are stuck there for all eternity.
Chris is the General Manager of an IT company with a strong interest
in Heaven. His book on this topic can be found at

THE PHILOAGORA ANNUAL ESSAY AWARD
Philo Agora starts its fourth year this month . We are very pleased
with our success, and have decided to pool our vast reserves and
offer an award for the coming year , starting now , for the
essay and talk that best meets our our objectives of relating
philosophical thought to how we act out our lives, individually or
collectively . The award is only $100 (the reserves are not actually
that vast), Papers of 2500 words or so will be placed on the website
and judged at the end of the first year, Details on our website
,Open to undergrads, postgrads, everybody, except tenured academics..
We , along with the Fair Trade Cafe, have also decided that we will
not charge students the usual $6.00 admission fee,

Tuesday August 25 at the Fair Trade Coffee House, 33 Glebe Point
Road, Glebe, $6.00 includes a free cup of coffee or tea. Start at
7.30. Finish at 9.00pm. If you want to eat, come early. All
profits from the Fair Trade Cafe go to support Third World development.
Philo Agora has started programming its talks for 2010 , If you
are a graduate, student , or self read philosopher with a topic to
discuss, do contact us. We welcome short talks on a philosopher or
philosophical theme that give insights that involve us all .... on
how we think about or act out our lives.......individually or collectively
