Paul,

Since you're wondering why you aren't getting responses: Even much simpler
queries on the list aren't getting responses, but YOUR request will filter
out potential respondents fairly quickly.

You'd need people with crypto experience (which means they'll also know that
there are lots of crypto problems where it's difficult-to-impossible to
determine how close you are to a solution, meaning this could be quite a
time sink), preferably experienced with the lib you've chosen (my favorite);
they need to know SNMP (I don't; and don't have any sense how much time that
would take), need to have access to an SNMP server to test against ( ! ),
should probably have RFC (implementation) experience, or at least any
protocol implementation experience; obviously need in-depth experience with
Synapse; AND they need the time and willingness to work on someone else's
problem, right now... A "someone else" they don't know... whose level of
expertise and communications skills they don't know, etc. etc. etc. ...
Hmmm... the only potential match I can imagine at this point is Lukas; it's
doubtful that one expert's needs and schedule will coincide with another's;
and it's doubtful anyone would fault him for not volunteering more (right
now) after contributing so much.

I think it'd be far more surprising if you had gotten productive answers,
ESPECIALLY in that short time frame. If you were hiring someone, I think
you'd expect to take much longer to even begin to find candidates (factoring
in other limiting factors like Delphi and your location)...

As for me, this is the kind of problem (tricky and remote from mine ! ) I'd
love to get involved with, but several of the above factors and more,
prevent me from doing anything. Heck, I shouldn't have spent the time on
this note! Alright back to work now...

P.S. Another way to determine if your messages are reaching the mailing
list, is to see if you're receiving copies of the messages...

P.P.S. Your pressing need for this code may be (unduly) influencing your
expectations for totally FREE and fairly advanced support from this mailing
list. The odds of getting someone involved might go up if they'd feel they
know you to some extent from participation on the mailing list
(contributing, answering others, or just having established some level of
relationship), BUT even that might not be useful if the volunteers don't
have the requisite skills either! In addition, chances are pretty decent
that you'd have to invest more time to get any (other) volunteers up to
speed on all these specifics, than it will take you to resolve the problem.

P.P.P.S. This is a long shot, but since you've resolved the authentication
issues, and suspect the encryption... if you don't find other SNMP specific
problems, check to make sure that you're using the correct Initialization
Vectors. I ran into issues with that years ago when Barton made a major
upgrade to the library, simultaneously changing the IVs to the more-official
appropriate ones. On the surface, everything seemed to be the same, but you
obviously couldn't decrypt anything that had been encrypted with different
IVs. I really doubted that this is the problem, as you're probably using
recent versions of each library, but I also just noticed that that unit
needs to specify its own IVs... Maybe it is worth checking against the
RFCs... ?
