Go Nicola, go! :-) Jokes apart, it would be really nice to have an entry point for new developers: it would nice if you could fix / integrate what I drafted at [2] with your personal experience: I think you are in a pretty unique position in this respect, because of your not-so-fresh, but certainly not null as well, familiarity with codebase.
