I think it is very good idea..
Actually in the last part of 2011 I had a discussion with a member of  OpenIDM 
community (and also ForgeRock employee) in Norway who told me that it would be 
a waste of time and efforts to have two different project for connectors, but 
at that time I remember that OpenIDM and OpenICF were both starting from 
scratch while ConnId was more mature.

At this stage maybe it is impossible to merge projects, but it should be wise 
to make them interchangeable.
