How does that different from Linford, who as you said, participated in
some of the greatest races ever run?  I'm also hesitant to put Linford in
the top 5 list, but I'm missing something with that reasoning.

Drugs or no drugs, I don't see how Carl can be the runaway #1 and Ben
relegated to "forget about it" status, seeing as how Ben stymied Carl on
many an occasion.  Sure, he didn't perform at that level consistently, but
he certainly was untouchable (for any number of disliked reasons) when he
did.
