I may be way off base on this (and I'm sure someone will let me know) because I only became a track fan towards the end of the Moses streak.  But I didn't get the impression that he ducked competition in the same manner as Lewis and several others.  I remember a number of very close races towards the end of the streak, against guys who were good (Danny Harris, etc.).
 
Not that there's anything that wrong with planning the level of your competitions carefully.  But it certainly makes things less interesting from a spectator standpoint.
