What about a usenet group that I can access via http://groups.google.com?  There are several there (comp.lang.mumps...intersystems.public.cache) which I frequent and find easy to use, browse and search without having to log in every time.

Others may feel differently, but I think that the current setup on the Talk mail archive serves a lot of the same purposes that a forum would.  The only thing wrong with Talk is that it's a little hard to find for newbies...

Greetings,

Wanted to pose a question to the group – we are evaluating putting up a forum in the customer area of our website as potential alternative to the Talk Listserv – the archives would be updated into the forum for – most likely using a scriptJ

But before we do anything - we'd like to know what you all think.

The advantages of a forum are that it's much easier to search, to scan through and follow threads and you don't get the "out of office replies" when you post on a holiday.

The biggest disadvantage in my mind is that it is not as "immediate" to post, you have to login to a website to do it.

So what are your thoughts?

Regards,

Thom
