I like the idea of a forum.  If it's a good one, it will facilitate subject and key word look ups, and it would allow me to focus on the posts that I think I need.  Plus, I get tired of managing emails, so the fewer I get the better I like it.  I can browse the forum when I want/need.  See if you can give it a "New Posts" lookup.  Those are nice for browsing.

Subject: [Talk] Forum's vs Listserv's

Greetings,

Wanted to pose a question to the group – we are evaluating putting up a forum in the customer area of our website as potential alternative to the Talk Listserv – the archives would be updated into the forum for – most likely using a scriptJ

But before we do anything - we’d like to know what you all think.

The advantages of a forum are that it’s much easier to search, to scan through and follow threads and you don’t get the “out of office replies” when you post on a holiday.

The biggest disadvantage in my mind is that it is not as “immediate” to post, you have to login to a website to do it.

So what are your thoughts?

Regards,

Thom
