I'm curious. Where did you see this recommendation from Nuance, and was it
specific to Talks? I know you've had to update certain levels of firmware on
some phones to fix some specific issues, but I don't recall ever seeing a
blanket recommendation from Nuance to always update to the latest level of
firmware, but I could have easily missed it.

IMHO, I think Nuance should stick to levels of firmware it has been able to
test and keep its recommendations to combinations of Talks and firmware
levels it knows works. Obviously, Nuance can't test every level of Talks
with every level of firmware on every phone, so this list would be pretty
sparse.

For my part, unless there's something I'm specifically looking for in a
firmware update, I stick with the "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."
Philosophy. This doesn't mean I don't update my firmware, but when you add
in accessibility software, there are just too many variables and too many
things can go wrong. I'll make sure there's something in the firmware I
want, make sure I have a good backup and make sure I know how to roll back
if anything goes wrong.

I will be in future but even Nuance recommends running the latest firmware
on your handset.
