I'd expect that question to get asked by Nokia or the cell phone provider but not Nuance or your Talks dealer. Since you're saying Nuance recommends you move up to the latest level, I'm still curious as to where you've seen Nuance or a Talks dealer blancketly say you should upgrade your firmware. There have obviously been specific issues with Talks that require fixes found in later level of firmware, but again I'm not aware of a blanket statement from Nuance or Talks to keep your firmware at the latest level.
If I'm having a problem with my phone, and I'm calling Nokia or my cell provider for service, I'd ask if there's something that's been addressed in the latest firmware that will resolve the issue I'm having. I'll try to make sure I'm not just being put off by asking to needlessly update my firmware. Of course, if I'm having trouble with my phone, and I think it will be resolved in a newer level of firmware then I'll be more likely to go ahead and update my firmware. -- Christopher [email protected] -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Bernard Hemmings Sent: Sunday, November 07, 2010 1:22 AM To: Talks Mailing List Subject: Re: [Talks] Updating firmware [was "RE: talks not speaking symbol listfollowing firmware update one72."] when ever there is a problem the first thing that gets asked is are you running the latest firmware.
