I don't seem me losing interest though I do see Tapestry competing with my other interests (including Sabertooth and real life).
I'm doing everything I can, as an independant contributor, to push Tapestry into a community, not solo, effort. This is beginning to bear some fruit, as some users are finding bugs and providing fixes even today. I fully expect to continue using and improving Tapestry as long as I create web applications in Java ... maybe longer. Sun has shown no interest in taking code from individual developers; they've turned me down for even auditor access to JSR-127, and turned me down twice for sessions at JavaOne. The magic of open source is that Sun isn't all that relevant to the future of Tapestry. Sun doesn't like to admit mistakes, and will layer more garbage on top of JSPs rather than face the fact that JSPs are a flawed and limited model. Meanwhile, Tapestry is agile and free to evolve quickly. Did I just get onto a rant? I will *always* keep Tapestry as open-source, using the LGPL license or equivalent. That's more of a guarantee than you can get, even for software you paid for! The best guarantee is to do everything you can to grow the community ... turn as many people onto Tapestry as you can. -- [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://tapestry.sf.net > Hi Howard, > > as I indicated in my previous email, I am very > impressed with your Tapestry framework. > > Quite frankly I have been looking for something like > this for some time, however in mentioning it to one of > my colleagues, he raised a valid point. > > That is, what are your long term plans for this > framework. > > We all know there are no guarantees, but let's say for > whatever reason your level of interest wanes, what > then? > > Do you intend at some point to submit it to Sun or > Jakarta etc? > > Thanks again. > > > ===== > Cheers, > Stavros > > __________________________________________________ > Do You Yahoo!? > Sign up for SBC Yahoo!
