Hi Szendrő,

On 11 January 2000 at 11:14:17 GMT +0100 (which was 10:14 where I
live) [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote and made these points:

My point here is that the address book and the message are
*completely* separate. "Address book" = *source* (you said it
yourself) and the "To:" header = *destination*. Once the address has
moved from one to the other there is *no* connection. This is logic,
pure and simple. It doesn't matter a hoot if the message is a new
message, a reply or a forward. TB's macros certainly know *absolutely
nothing* of the difference. Only you, sitting outside the computer in
your chair know that.

SI> TOFNAME now must pick the first name. Where does it pick it from?

>From the message header.

SI> Wouldn't you expect it to pick it from the First Name field?

No - it doesn't, shouldn't and couldn't look there, even if it wanted
to. TB's macros are built to work with e-mail messages, not address
books. Also, it is absolutely correct that it should do it this way
because of what I said about Replies and Fwds.

SI> What it does instead is it picks the first string of the *Display name
SI> as* field from the address book.

SI> Do you still say this is not a bug?

I do - categorically.

Look: If you are using TB internationally, don't use local naming
conventions in the address book - use international ones. We all live
in an international community out here in WebsVille and have to make
some compromises. OTOH, if you are using TB only locally, use
Hungarian naming convention and change the way you use the
internationally biased macros. The only "bug" is in the way you are
expecting TB to behave.

This stuff is fact, not opinion and if you want to argue more with me
about it, please take it off-list and reply privately.

Cheers,
Marck
