When I saw Alexander's message about "Clumsy clumsy Mailticker ",
I felt like making these comments:

LOL!!
I agree with you that the ticker is intrusive if allowed to 'sprawl' and
really display its contents. The only way I can use it is to relegate it
to the right lower corner of my screen, give it thin view and make it no
more than 2 inches long. :=)
One way of making it more useable is to make it dock-able to a window
component and the title bar, as you suggest is a very good place.
