Soft wrapping is *not* a good idea for email. The recommendations are to wrap at around 65 characters. I prefer 74 myself, because we've moved on beyond 80 character text consoles. But email remains a plain text medium and should continue to do so - that's what it was designed to be. There are other forms of document for conveying more detailed formatting: word processor document attachments, PDF files and web page URLs. The inclusion of web pages as email text is (IMHO) a perversion of the medium. But that's another (never ending) debate.
